Linebacker Abdul Hodge and punter Jon Ryan are finding themselves looking for work on Labor Day. Both Packers veterans were cut Monday, while Green Bay signed a needed long snapper and a new punter.
Replacing Hodge and Ryan on the Packers 53-man roster is punter Derrick Frost and long snapper Brett Goode. The Packers had a need for a long snapper due to the season ending injury suffered by J.J. Jansen in the team’s last pre-season game. The switch at punter is more of a surprise, as the sometimes inconsistent Ryan had steadily improved through the pre-season.
